Figline di Prato: why

The museum is located in Prato, in the hamlet of Figline. The place is important for the citizen's commemoration because here, on 6 September 1944, the day of the city's liberation of Fascism, 29 young partisans of the Buricchi brigade who went down in the valley from the nearby Faggi di Iavello, were captured and hanged by retreating Germans. It was not until the year 2003 that the investigations lead to the identification of the massacre's commander, major of the Wehrmacht Karl Laqua. To commemorate this tragic event, a torchlight procession takes place every year on liberation day. The procession leads from Via 7 Marzo over the hills of Figline to the crime scene. Numerous citizens and representatives of institutions participate every year.
